Take this verse as a statement about your inner state. 'God is my King of old' declares the I AM the timeless ruler of your mind. Salvation is not a distant event but the effect of the inner king acting through your present consciousness. The earth you feel around you is the theatre of your own inner disposition; when you assume the king's authority, you would have the sensation of a decree already fulfilled. Your imagination is the scepter; your feeling is the anointing. When anxiety or lack arise, rest in the knowing that the king has always sat upon your throne, directing the currents of life toward what is true for you. The 'old' nature is the constant you, not a memory; the kingdom is established within, here and now, and it works salvation in the midst of the earth by turning attention away from crisis toward the realization of your divine sovereignty.
