7I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

Biblical Context

The psalmist sees himself as a wonder to many, but his true safety is the refuge that God within provides.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 71:7 speaks through you and me: I am a wonder unto many, yet thou art my strong refuge. In Neville's light, the I that others marvel at is the effect of a mind fully aware. The true refuge is not a place in the world but the God presence within—the I AM that always attends your consciousness. When you imagine yourself as a walking sign to the world, you are only seeing the outer image; the inner state is the seed from which every refuge, every protection, grows. Trust and faith are acts of inner alignment: cultivate the conviction that you are sustained by the indwelling I AM, not by circumstances. Providence becomes simply the gentle movement of awareness responding to your assumption. See the many as reflections of your current thought about yourself; when you revise that thought to I am the strong refuge, you discover that the world adapts to mirror your new sense of safety. The two statements fuse: you are a wonder to others because you are awake; you are protected because the I AM shelters you.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, fingertips on chest; breathe slowly and declare I AM the strong refuge. Feel the inner shelter as real here and now.
