Fortress of I Am Within

Psalms 71:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 71 in context

Scripture Focus

3Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Psalms 71:3

Biblical Context

The verse asks God to be a lasting shelter and refuge. It declares God as rock and fortress and speaks of salvation and protection.

Neville's Inner Vision

Be thou my strong habitation becomes a deliberate choosing of a state of consciousness in which God is my permanent dwelling; I continually resort to it not as escape but to realize truth. The 'strong habitation' is the I AM within, the unshakable rock and fortress that remains regardless of outer conditions. 'Thou hast given commandment to save me' signals an inner decree that salvation is already issued by the divine mind of which I am an expression. Since God is awareness, the act of saving is a shift in consciousness—an imagining into the reality that I am kept, guided, and delivered by this steadfast presence. When I live from this inner fortress, I cease seeking protection from without and begin witnessing experiences that mirror the security, providence, and deliverance embedded in the I AM. The world rearranges to reflect the state I dwell in: protection becomes permanence, guidance becomes instinctive, redemption becomes daily felt reality. Thus, when fear arises, I do not plead for rescue; I return to the awareness that I AM is my rock and fortress whose command is salvation.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'I AM dwelling in the strong habitation of God; this inner fortress saves me now.' Feel the steady protection as if salvation is already real.
