Scripture Focus

8The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
9Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
10My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
Psalms 7:8-10

Biblical Context

The psalmist asks for righteous judgment based on his integrity and trust in God, while praying for the end of wickedness and the protection of the upright. It centers on inner discernment and the transformation of fear into steadfast righteousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this psalm you stand at the threshold of self-awareness. The LORD will judge the people—but the true judge is the I AM within you, the awareness that feels itself as the upright. 'Judge me according to my righteousness' is a decision of consciousness: you choose to align with integrity that already resides in you. When you hold that inner state, the seeming wickedness of past thoughts ceases to haunt you, for you are not identifying with it. 'For the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins'—a divine exam of your inner movements, not punishment, revealing where you still identify with lack or fear. Your defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart: the defense is the faithful sense of presence that has the power to save your perception from drift. By remaining in this state, you, not the circumstance, determine the outcome.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes. Assume the state of the upright in heart and softly say, 'I am the righteousness of God in consciousness.' Feel that truth as real until it quiets fear and redefines what you call defense.
