Biblical Context

The psalm appeals to God to hide not His face and to hear the cry in trouble. It longs for God's nearness to draw near, redeem, and deliver him from his enemies.

Neville's Inner Vision

Trouble in Psalm 69:17–18 is not a distant event but a state of consciousness calling for a shift of attention. To 'hide not thy face' is to refuse the ordinary dream of separation and to turn your full awareness toward the I AM, the living Presence within. 'Hear me speedily' is your readiness to accept the answer that is already present when you stop arguing with reality and align with it. When the psalmist asks God to draw nigh unto his soul and redeem it, he is naming the inner movement of feeling: the soul can be lifted, redeemed from fear, doubt, and the sense of attack by embracing the divine pace of awareness. The enemies are imagined powers—lack, threat, and estrangement—that disappear when you insist on your oneness with the source of all life. Deliverance comes as a revision of consciousness, not as a change of external circumstances. By maintaining the assumption that God is near, you awake to the truth that you are already redeemed, already protected by the light of your own I AM. Your prayer becomes a fact in you, here and now.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close eyes, and repeat, 'I AM with God; God is near me now.' Feel the Presence as a warm light drawing close and let the sense of deliverance fill your chest.
