Biblical Context
Psalm 68:4-6 invites us to praise God and honor Him as the one who rides the heavens. It also reveals that He places the solitary in families and frees captives, while those who resist remain in a dry land.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your awareness is the stage upon which Psalm 68 unfolds. The 'God' spoken of is not distant but the I AM you call forth in your imagination. When you extol Him, you are yielding to the truth that your inner state governs outward companionship, justice, and relief from bondage. The solitary being set in families is the consciousness settled in a warm inner community you may not yet see with the senses but already inhabit in mind. The 'father of the fatherless' and 'judge of the widows' is the kindness of your own awareness judging what you permit and what you release; it dispenses care to the vulnerable parts of you, guiding them into a spiritual household of peace. If you dwell in rebellion—resistance to your inner truths—you inhabit a dry land, a barren state. But God, as your holy habitation, brings out those in chains and weaves them into harmonious relationship with the whole of your being. So worship is not ritual; it is alignment with your true state, and justice is the arrangement of your mind to support life rather than scarcity.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the feeling of being already settled in a divine family within your I AM. Then revise any sense of lack by picturing a loving inner circle around you and feel gratitude as if this reality is already true.
