Biblical Context
Psalm 66:8-15 invites praise to God who sustains life and refines through trials. Despite afflictions, the psalmist trusts that a wealthy place awaits and vows are spoken from a heart transformed by trouble.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville readers, the 'people' are states of consciousness and the 'land' called a wealthy place is a level of awareness. God holds our soul in life—this is the I AM sustaining attention, the inner compass that keeps our feet from sliding. The tests—being drawn into a net, affliction on the loins, being ridden over—are inner movements of thought needing refinement; as silver is tried in fire, ideas of lack pass through the furnace of consciousness. When pressure presses, you have a chance to revise: assume you are already standing in your wealthy place, feel the sensation of safety, and watch fear dissolve. The journey through fire and water becomes a rite of purification, when worship is no longer an act but the natural state of awareness. Returning to the temple of the I AM, you acknowledge and fulfill the vows whispered in trouble; your offerings become gratitude, and the inner state becomes the outward provision.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling 'I am held in life; my feet are unshakable.' Then close your eyes and imagine walking into a bright inner temple, offering gratitude and declaring your vows as already fulfilled.
