Biblical Context
Psalm 65:6-8 describes God's power shaping order in creation—settling mountains, quieting seas and human tumult—and the signs of His presence that evoke awe, while the daily turning of morning to evening is made joyful by that divine order.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this psalm, the mountains are the fixed states of thought within you, and the strength that steadies them is the I AM awareness you awaken to within. The stilling of the seas and the tumult of the people mirror the quieting of restless mind and distracting opinions when you acknowledge that you are one with the Divine Presence. Those dwelling in the far reaches of consciousness tremble at tokens of God because they have not yet recognized the tokens as familiar signs of their true state. The outgoings of morning and evening, however, become a joyful rite because they reveal a consistent, rhythmic order in your life when you rest in the realization that your being is the activity of God. The verse invites you to trust that internal order governs external appearances, and that the more you inhabit the I AM, the more creation aligns with your conviction, transforming fear into reverence and every moment into a celebration of divine arrangement.
Practice This Now
Imagination Practice: Assume the state 'I AM' is the ruler of my inner weather—mountains fixed, seas quiet. Hold that conviction for 5 minutes, revising any disturbance as already resolved, and feel morning and evening joy arising from this inner realization.
