Stilling Mountains Within

Psalms 65:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 65 in context

Scripture Focus

6Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
Psalms 65:6-7

Biblical Context

God’s power holds the mountains in place and quiets the seas and the tumult of the people.

Neville's Inner Vision

These lines are not about geology but about the states of your consciousness. The mountains are fixed beliefs you have accepted as reality; the strength that sets them fast is the power of I AM that you are. The sea and its waves represent the turmoil of your feelings and the noise of fretful thoughts; when you yield to this inner arm of power, you still the tides by affirming a greater presence. The tumult of the people is the changing crowd-thought that tells you you are at the mercy of conditions. But the truth, in this reading, remains: you are the I AM, and by your attention you cause the world to be. When you credit that power, you may feel the quieting come; the noise subsides; the mountains remain fixed in your inner ground. Practice a deliberate assumption of the fulfilled state; feel it real; let the images of calm become your habitual awareness, and the outer world will reflect that order.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the sturdy rock of consciousness,' then vividly imagine mountains held fast, seas quiet, and the crowd-thought stilled. Hold the feeling for a minute or two and rest in that inner order.
