Psalms 63:8-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 63 in context

Scripture Focus

8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
Psalms 63:8-10

Biblical Context

The soul earnestly follows after God, trusting that His right hand sustains it, while those who would destroy the soul are destined to fall.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this psalm the I AM is the inner reality that is always present, and the right hand of God is the felt support of consciousness itself. The line about those who seek the soul represents inner fears, doubts, and the habit of negative thoughts trying to undermine your sense of being. Rather than appealing to an external deity, you awaken to the awareness that you are the I AM, and that awareness upholds every movement of your life. The 'lower parts of the earth' symbolize submerged beliefs that feed the illusion of threat; as you dwell in the awareness that you are watched over by the I AM, these hidden beliefs dissolve and the symbolic sword cuts away old attachments. The 'portion for foxes' points to the exposure of the old dream to the light of consciousness; you remain within the steady state of awareness, while the dream of danger loses its force. In this view, protection is the constant awareness of your true nature, not a distant rescue.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, assume 'I am upheld by the Right Hand of God,' and feel that support in your body. Revise any fear by repeating 'I am not threatened; the I AM sustains me.'
