Read Psalms 63 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
It portrays longing for God's presence as nourishment in a dry land. It ends with a vow to praise because God's lovingkindness is better than life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this psalm lies a map of your inner weather. O God, thou art my God becomes: I am awareness of God within; early will I seek thee becomes the deliberate choosing of the day to dwell in the I AM. My soul thirsteth for thee in a dry and thirsty land translates to recognizing the hunger for the I AM in every moment, a barren outward condition that vanishes when consciousness turns inward. To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary, is your declaration that you will behold the proof of God’s reality within the inner sanctuary of your mind. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee becomes your vow to live from gratitude, letting praise spring from the realization that God’s favor is your natural state. The verse invites you to move from longing as lack to knowing the I AM is all-sufficiency, the inner sun that shines regardless of outer appearances. This is faith’s practical turn: you have God; you are loved; you praise from the still center of your being.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and feel the I AM awaken within you. Assume the state of having God now and let praise rise from that inner realization.
