Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Psalm 62 invites unwavering trust in God and invites you to pour out your heart to Him, for God is a refuge. It also cautions against trusting in human status or wealth, pointing to the sovereignty of God.
Neville's Inner Vision
See the psalm not as a history but as a manual for the imagination. I trust in Him at all times; I pour out my heart before the I AM, for the One within is my rock and refuge. The phrase 'power belongeth unto God' becomes a declaration that the source of all action lies in the I AM, the eternal consciousness that I am and you are. When I hear of vanity of men of high degree and the futility of riches, I do not seek power in forms or authorities; I seek the sovereign power within, where mercy flows as a law. To 'pour out' is to release every anxious image into the light of awareness, and to keep returning to the awareness that God already judges and rewards me according to the states I inhabit. By aligning with this inner truth, I discover that external conditions are simply the theater in which my inner life plays. The verse resolves into practice: dwell in the I AM, my refuge; let courage, mercy, and power arise from that certainty.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the state of trust in the I AM right now. Close your eyes, repeat 'I trust you at all times; you are my refuge,' and feel the stabilization of the inner rock as real.
