Inner Covenant of Mercy

Psalms 61:5-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 61 in context

Scripture Focus

5For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
6Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.
7He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
Psalms 61:5-7

Biblical Context

God hears vows and grants a heritage to those who fear His name. The king's life is sustained, and mercy and truth preserve his standing before God.

Neville's Inner Vision

When I read Psalms 61:5-7, I hear the voice of my own I AM. God has heard my vows; I am now aligned with a lineage of reverent consciousness—those states that fear thy name. The heritage granted is the quality of being established in divine awareness, not a lineage of people but a settled atmosphere in which I reign. The lineage of prolonging the king's life is the extension of my inner king's reign across time, enabled by unwavering attention to the I AM. Abiding before God forever points to the permanence of this awareness, unshaken by circumstance. Preparing mercy and truth asks me to cultivate mercy as compassionate action in my thoughts and truth as fidelity to my inner state, both preserving the king and his throne. As these inner movements settle, the sense of being the ruler grows, and time itself is softened to the duration of my abiding Name.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling 'I AM the eternal king' and revise any doubt until this inner throne remains unmoved; silently declare 'mercy and truth preserve me' while imagining your awareness seated on a throne that endures through all generations.
