Shelter of the I AM
Psalms 61:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalmist recalls God's protection as shelter and a strong tower, and pledges to dwell in God's presence and trust.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this psalm the shelter and the strong tower are not outward places but movements within your own state of consciousness. God, the I AM, is the awareness that holds and guards you. When you hear, 'thou hast been a shelter for me,' you acknowledge that fear or attack are withered by the steadfast protection of the I AM, a perpetual attention that never abandons you. To say, 'I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever' is to consent to live always within the perpetual dwelling of consciousness where you are aware of your unity with the divine, not chasing a distant rescue. 'The covert of thy wings' is the intimate cover of awareness that enfolds you whenever you turn inward and refuse to identify with lack. Selah invites a pause to feel the truth: you are already protected, already held, already home in God. The enemy dissolves when you inhabit this inner sanctuary, for the shift is inward: become the feeling of being kept, and the outer world rearranges to mirror your felt shelter.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and affirm, 'I am sheltered by the I AM; I abide in the tabernacle of my consciousness.' Then breathe in the sense of protective wings, letting trust become your immediate, felt reality.
