Biblical Context
Psalm 60:4 speaks of a banner given to those who fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. The verse invites a reverent pause (Selah) to acknowledge the inner movement of faith.
Neville's Inner Vision
Remember, the 'banner' is not a flag fluttering on a hill but a state of consciousness you carry. The 'fear' of thee is the reverent awe of I AM—the awareness that you are the truth you seek. When the verse says, 'Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee,' it means the living, unwavering conviction you hold within when you align with the truth about who you are. The banner is displayed 'because of the truth'—the truth you have assumed in imagination, the truth you have rehearsed in feeling and assumption until it becomes your visible life. Selah invites you to pause from the noise of doubt and rest in that conviction; in that pause you let the inner movement consolidate into outward experience. Your job is to keep returning to the assumption: I am the banner; I am the truth displayed through my life. Others witness your life as the truth you have chosen, and holiness and true worship arise as natural expression of the I AM within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the banner of truth.' See and feel the banner flutter above you as you move through the day, revised until the truth feels real.
