Read Psalms 59 in context

Scripture Focus

10The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
Psalms 59:10-12

Biblical Context

The psalmist trusts God's mercy to shield them and to reveal their desired outcome against enemies, choosing deliverance over vengeance. It also frames the hostile words as inner projections to be scattered, not punished with cruelty.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this psalm, the God of mercy is your inner guard—the I AM—that prevents fear from ruling your mind. The 'God of my mercy shall prevent me' declares that your inner awareness will shield you and cause your desire to appear in the very form that opposes it. To 'slay them not' is to refrain from feeding the drama; to 'scatter them by thy power' is to dissolve the stubborn mental images and let divine order rearrange the scene. 'Bring them down, O Lord our shield' renames the shield as your uninterrupted awareness, steady and untroubled. The lines about the sin of their mouth and curse and lying point to inner speech—the thoughts you entertain about the situation. Let those projections be seen and released rather than battled; you do not retaliate, you align with the truth that you are one with God. As you keep faith in the I AM, the outer scene is transformed by the inward shift, and deliverance arrives as a natural consequence of consciousness rightly assumed.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place your attention on the I AM within, and declare: 'The mercy of God prevents me; I see my desire fulfilled upon mine enemies now.' Then mentally envision the opposing thoughts dissolving into light and the scene rearranging to reflect your desired state.
