Scripture Focus

1Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
Psalms 59:1-3

Biblical Context

Psalm 59:1–3 is a plea for deliverance and protection from enemies; it grounds trust in divine defense and righteous shelter.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewing Psalm 59:1–3 through Neville’s image of states of consciousness, enemies become inner voices of fear and doubt. The mighty gathering against you is the pressure of sensed danger, not a grand external conspiracy. Your true self—God, the I AM within—defends you by remaining aware. Accepting the psalmist’s innocence, you refuse to attribute attack to sin and instead revise the scene to align with your end: safety, protection, and salvific presence. The workers of iniquity are habitual thoughts that threaten your peace; they vanish when you acknowledge the sole reality of your divine creation. By assuming the feeling of defense here and now, you shift consciousness so the outer world rises to meet that inner state. The deliverance described is the transformation of awareness, not a distant rescue; the Lord’s defense is your own ongoing sense of I AM alive and awake in you, guarding you from all menace.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine a radiant shield around you, forged by your I AM presence; softly declare, 'I AM defended' until fear dissolves and you feel abiding protection.
