Biblical Context
Enemies rise and oppress the speaker, yet God is the helper who upholds the soul. The psalm promises that evil will be cut off in truth.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville lens, the strangers and oppressors are not persons outside you but states of consciousness that arise when you forget the I AM as your true center. They have not set God before them because the mind has wandered from its awareness. Behold, God is mine helper—the Lord is with them that uphold my soul—and this is not a future promise but your present possession when you align with consciousness. The line that evil will be rewarded unto mine enemies becomes a law of inner correction: you disarm fear, projection, and limitation by abiding in the truth that you are the living I AM. Cut them off in thy truth means to sever belief in lack, harm, or attack by choosing the eternal verity of your being. Remember that you are the consciousness that experiences; imagination creates the scene and the change. When you fully assume the I AM as your constant companion, you feel the helper's presence lifting your life, and the so-called enemies dissolve into the background as your inner order is restored. This is not retreat but the real victory: you inhabit the truth and watch the outer world reorganize itself accordingly.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the I AM is with you now; feel a warm, protective presence surrounding your soul. Then revise the sense of threat into protection, and dwell in that reality until it feels natural.
