5There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.
6Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 53:5-6

Biblical Context

Fear crowds the enemies, but God scatters their power. The passage promises Israel’s salvation coming from Zion and a joyful return.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this psalm, fear is not an external army but a state of consciousness that seems to encamp against you. The line that there were they in great fear where no fear was is the moment when you mistake a phenomenon for the real you. The 'bones' scattered by God are the shattered beliefs of limitation—an inner demonstration that the imagined siege cannot endure when confronted with the I AM. In Neville's terms, God is your awareness, and the true attack is your own doubt; when you refuse to entertain it, the enemy dissolves, and the apparent defeat loses its grip. The salvation of Israel coming out of Zion is the inner gift of realization rising from the hidden center of your being. Zion is the state of consciousness in which you know God hath despised the adversary, and the captivity of your mind is overturned. When you abide in that state and feel it as real now, Jacob rejoices and Israel is glad. Thus the verse teaches that deliverance is not a future event but a present, experienced shift in consciousness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled—salvation now arising from Zion within. Repeat, 'I AM free; the captivity is reversed,' until the emotion is vivid.
