Inner Zion: Psalms 53:2-6

Psalms 53:2-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 53 in context

Scripture Focus

2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
5There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.
6Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 53:2-6

Biblical Context

The psalm portrays humanity as separated from God, with all turning away and becoming corrupt, and it longs for salvation when God restores Israel. It hints that true restoration comes not from outside, but from a returned inner state.

Neville's Inner Vision

God looks down from heaven to see if there are any who understand and seek God—that is, a moment of inner awareness where you observe your own consciousness. When you hear that all have turned aside and none doeth good, recognize it as the current habit of your mind, not a fixed decree. The so-called workers of iniquity are your limiting beliefs that impair life, beliefs that eat up my people and drain your energy, because you have forgotten to call upon the I AM within. The fear that grips you where no fear was dissolves when you realize these bones are scattered by the light you now claim. The cry Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion becomes your inner invitation: Zion is the state of awakened self-awareness, the recognized I AM within. When you affirm that salvation is here, God’s return of your captivity is the reembodiment of your true self. Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad, for the kingdom you seek is not outside but waking within your own consciousness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the sentence, 'I am the salvation of Israel, here and now,' and feel it as fact in your chest; revise any fear by declaring, 'God has returned my captivity; I am free.'
