Biblical Context
Psalm 51:3-5 centers on confessing transgressions and owning sin as ever-present before the speaker. It frames the wrongdoing as seen in relation to God, and it acknowledges the birth of a self under the dominance of sin.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the question 'What is sin?' sin is a state of consciousness—an inner misalignment with the I AM, the living awareness you call God. When the speaker says 'For I acknowledge my transgressions,' they are turning within, revising the inner script rather than seeking external atonement. 'My sin is ever before me' is the unloving glare of a belief in separation; yet that very glare is a doorway to awakening, for acknowledgment is the first act of creation. 'Against thee, thee only, have I sinned' signals the old self's sense that the Self is separated from the I AM; in this inner vision, nothing stands between you and your birthright. 'Behold, I was shapen in iniquity' points to the root belief that you were formed in error; Neville would say you are formed in Spirit, yet you believed otherwise, and so you experienced a contrary state. The moment you assume a new self, the inner atmosphere shifts; forgiveness follows as the I AM - your true Self - renews your purity through imagination.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as present reality and revise the old self by silently declaring, 'I am the I AM; I am forgiven and renewed.' Then picture a bright, pure self rising within and feel the new state as now.
