Biblical Context
David expresses coming into God's house in mercy, worshiping with reverence, and seeking guidance to walk rightly amid enemies. The poem promises joy and protection for the faithful, culminating in the blessing of the righteous as a shield surrounds them.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the still center of your consciousness, assume you are standing inside the house of mercy, the sanctuary where reverent attention becomes reality. When it says, 'lead me in thy righteousness because of mine enemies,' hear the 'enemies' as doubts and restless conditions, not persons; you are asked to align with a higher order of living, and this is done by reviving your own I AM presence. Enter the sanctuary and let mercy widen your sense of self; imagine the path before you growing straight as you consent to the alignment of your will with the divine order. The claim that those who trust in the Lord rejoice, and that the righteous are blessed, is not a future event but a state you inhabit when you refuse to feed fear and keep faith in the inner law. The shield is your awareness, surrounding you as you dwell in that trust, a boundary of light that nothing external can pierce. Enemies vanish into the background as your awareness holds fast to the truth you choose; your inner decree becomes your outward experience of protection and joy.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of already being in the house of mercy; repeat, 'I am entering thy house, my path is straight, I am shielded by divine protection,' until the feeling of truth saturates your consciousness.
