Psalms 48:3-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 48 in context

Scripture Focus

3God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
Psalms 48:3-6

Biblical Context

The psalm portrays the inner sanctuary as a safe refuge. External powers arrive, marvel, and then retreat in fear.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you the palaces are states of consciousness, and the presence of God is your unchanging I AM. The psalm speaks of a sanctuary you enter, where God is known as refuge. The kings are your restless thoughts and claims of power; when they assemble and pass by, you see them clearly, and they marvel at the light of your inner awareness. They are troubled and hasten away because the truth you emit unsettles their very foundation. Fear and travail are the birth pangs of a new order, the moment your consciousness refuses to bend to outer authority. The inner sanctuary remains unchanged, yet everything in your world rearranges to reflect that sanctuary. Providence and guidance now stream through you as a natural consequence of being; you do not chase outcomes, you embody the outcome—the refuge you seek is you. When you hold this I AM presence, the apparent enemies dissolve into shapes and shadows that disappear as you return to peace.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and step into the inner sanctuary, declaring, I am the refuge. Let the passing thoughts of power fade as you rest in the I AM presence.
