Psalms 48:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Plain sense: The psalm extols Zion as the holy city where God is praised and where He is known as refuge; it speaks of the joy and protection of the Great King.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the psalm speaks of the LORD being great and to be praised in the city of our God, the mountain of holiness. In Neville's view, the city is a state of consciousness where the I AM dwells; Zion becomes the sanctuary you carry as your daily center. The 'sides of the north' and the 'city of the great King' symbolize the unshakable rule of divine awareness within you. When you claim Zion as your inner sanctuary, God is known there as refuge—an inner peace that weathered storms cannot touch. Your imagination is the road that leads you there; praising God becomes the steady recognition that the Self holds you safe. As you persist in that interior city, the outer world rearranges to reflect the security you have claimed in consciousness. This is how worship becomes presence—felt, not merely spoken—until your life itself demonstrates the Kingdom within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, declare, 'I am in Zion, the sanctuary of God-awareness,' and feel the refuge settle as a quiet ruling presence within.
