Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalm extols God's greatness and declares Zion, the holy city, as beautiful and joyful, a spiritual center of praise. It points to holiness as the inner dwelling where God is praised.
Neville's Inner Vision
The 'Great is the LORD' phrase invites you to see the I AM you awaken to as the source of all praise. The 'city of our God' is not a place on a map but the inner climate where awareness dwells in its natural majesty. To praise the Lord is to align your attention with that noble I AM, to dwell in the city where every thought, feeling, and decision reveres holiness. The 'mountain of his holiness' is the ascending state of purity and clarity you inhabit when you refuse to mistake appearance for truth. When you rise to Zion, the inner sanctuary, you discover that beauty for situation is not mere circumstance but the effect of your inner essential state radiating outward. As you inhabit this Zion, you become the joy of the earth because your inner peace, holiness, and royal self-awareness draw outward harmony. The kingdom of God is within, not over there; this psalm invites you to enter by assuming and feeling from that elevated consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume you are in Zion now; feel the I AM praising itself within you for a few moments. Let that awareness govern your thoughts until it becomes your ordinary state.
