Biblical Context
Psalm 45:3-7 portrays a mighty king clothed in glory, riding in majesty, and ruling with truth, meekness, and righteousness; his throne endures forever.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you is the king who girds his sword with glory and majesty. Psalm 45:3-7 is not a history lesson but a map of your present consciousness. The sword on thy thigh stands for disciplined imagination—arm it with truth, meekness, and righteousness, and you ride forth from the aware self who knows himself as I AM. Your right hand, the faculty that perceives, will teach you terrible things, meaning you will discover that what you once feared dissolves when seen through the light of being. Arrows shot at the king's enemies are the memories or beliefs that once threatened your sovereignty; when you rest in the inner crown, those arrows lose their force and the people fall under your order—the life you govern from within remains harmonious. Thy throne, O God, is forever; the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre, a right intention that never bends. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore the oil of gladness has been poured upon you, elevating your sense of self above lesser states. This is the inner reign: sit on the throne of awareness, and all the world aligns.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are the king within your own consciousness; envision girding a sword with glory and majesty, and feel truth, meekness, and righteousness flowing through you. Then revise any fear by declaring 'I AM the throne of God' and feel-it-real for a minute.
