Psalm 45 presents a radiant king whose grace and justice bless his realm, with a queen and people praising his rule; it images the beauty and strength of a divinely guided sovereignty.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your heart indites a good matter because the king you honor is the I AM within you. When I say grace pours into thy lips, I mean your words precede your world and blessing flows from the inner pen. Gird thy sword upon thy thigh becomes your steady attention—truth, meekness, and righteousness guiding your ride; your right hand teaches you mighty inner revelations. Arrows in the heart of the king's enemies symbolize thoughts you cease to entertain, bringing your realm into order. Thy throne is the eternal awareness that never doubts its source, and the oil of gladness anoints you above your fellows as joy follows settled consciousness. All thy garments smell of myrrh, aloes, and cassia—fragrance of thoughts rightly governed. The king's daughter is all glorious within; the queen at thy right hand is your cherished inner resources. Hearken and incline your ear; forget the old forms and enter a new order. Thus shall the king greatly desire your beauty, for you worship the king you are becoming. Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, and you shall reign in every realm.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the state of the inner king now. Repeat 'I am the king' and feel grace and truth ruling every thought and action today.
