Psalms 44:9-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 44 in context

Scripture Focus

9But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
10Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
11Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
12Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
Psalms 44:9-12

Biblical Context

The verses express a felt abandonment by God, leading to defeat and scattering. They frame the people as cast off and undervalued.

Neville's Inner Vision

The 'thou' in Psalms 44:9-12 is your I AM, the inner consciousness, and to say God has cast you off is to identify with lack and fear. The defeated army is the inner faculties you’ve left idle—faith, courage, clarity—when you forget you command from within. The enemy that spoils is the stream of doubts that thrive when you accept separation. Being scattered among the heathen represents your attention dispersed toward externals rather than the one Source. To sell your people for nought and not increase wealth by their price is to undervalue your divine assets and the living wealth of I AM. The cure is a reversal: awaken to the awareness that I AM is present now, guiding every movement. When you align with that consciousness, the inner army reawakens, apparent defeat dissolves, and your wealth is restored as you recognize your true worth within. Outer conditions shift to reflect this inner alignment.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, claim I AM as your sole awareness, and revise the scene: now the inner army moves; feel courage, clarity, and abundance returning as your new reality.
