6And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
Psalms 41:6

Biblical Context

The psalm shows that when someone comes to you, their words reveal vanity and hidden inner motives. What is spoken outwardly mirrors the inner state within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Seek not the outward witness of others, for the 'vanity' they speak is but the echo of your own inner talk. In this moment, the visitor is not a person separate from you, but the image you have formed in your own consciousness; their vanity is the curtain you wear to veil your awareness. The line 'his heart gathereth iniquity to itself' shows the heart gathering what the mind already assumes about life; you are tallying the 'iniquity' you expect, and so you produce it. When he goes abroad, he telleth it — meaning your inner talk spills into your world, and the outer scene repeats your inner script. Remember: God, your I AM, does not judge; it responds to your assumed state. If you fear vanity or betrayal, you are rehearsing it in imagination, and it will appear as a scene in your life. The remedy is to reverse the script by the power of your inner vision. In your conscious assumption, hold "I" as innocent, forgiving, and complete; see the other as a reflection of your true nature, not as an adversary. Your faithfulness to this inner truth changes what the world tells you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the I AM is fully present. Revise the encounter so the visitor speaks truth and peace, and feel that new moment as real.
