Scripture Focus

6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
Psalms 4:6-7

Biblical Context

Psalm 4:6-7 contrasts external requests for good with the inward gift of God’s presence. The psalmist finds that true gladness comes from the light of God's countenance within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the verse asks, 'Who will show us any good?' yet the answer is not a future gift from the world but the awakening of your I AM. The 'light of thy countenance' denotes the luminosity of awareness that already shines within you. When you acknowledge you are the I AM, you understand all good as a product of consciousness, not of corn and wine. The heart's gladness is a state of being, not a possession; it rises as you stop begging from outside and begin acknowledging the divine radiance within. Feel the inner light steadily brighten the space of your mind; as it grows, the noise of lack dissolves, and joy remains regardless of appearances. The simple act of recognizing the inner countenance is faith made visible, a daily practice of turning attention from outward measures to inward constancy. In that turning you realize the abundance of life is your natural condition, a direct expression of your God-created state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the light of God's countenance is shining on you now. Feel the I AM within you, and let inner gladness rise as if it were your already-felt reality.
