Scripture Focus

9Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
10My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
Psalms 38:9-10

Biblical Context

Psalm 38:9-10 traces deep longing and bodily fatigue, yet it also records God's attentive presence. It frames suffering as an inner movement observed by the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Read as a formulation of inner states, this psalm shows you the ongoing drama of consciousness, not a confession of absence. The line 'before thee' places every desire and groaning inside the I AM—the indivisible awareness you truly are. When the heart panteth and strength faileth, you are witnessing the ego’s fatigue as it fights the habit of thinking you are separate from your source. The 'light of mine eyes' going out is the mind’s perception of dimmed discernment, a signal that you have temporarily forgotten your nativity in God. Yet the apparent loss is but a cue to awaken to the constant presence that never leaves you. The remedy is to revise the scene from the inside: assume that you are already held by the I AM, feel that you are seen, and let the inner light return as you dwell in awareness rather than in lack. In this shift, the pain becomes a doorway to a steadier sense of self—not by changing external circumstance but by changing your inner state into the undisturbed truth of your being.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling 'I am in God now' and rest in that awareness; when you feel groaning, revise it by acknowledging the I AM's presence and let the inner light return.
