Inner Friends of Psalm 38

Psalms 38:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 38 in context

Scripture Focus

11My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
12They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
Psalms 38:11-12

Biblical Context

The speaker is deserted by lovers and friends, and kin stand far off. Those who seek the speaker's life plot against them and speak deceit.

Neville's Inner Vision

All the externals in this psalm are but a mirror of inner state. When the line speaks of lovers and friends aloof from my sore, and kin afar, it is not bodies parted but consciousness separated from its own hurt by belief. The I AM, your living awareness, is never absent; it simply allows you to experience abandonment to reveal what you truly are. The enemies who lay snares and the mischievous talk are thoughts and narratives arising in the mind, not outside powers. They form from fear-educated images you projected from a consciousness conditioned by lack. The cure is not to chase people or defend yourself, but to shift the state that projects them. By assuming the end, you realize you are surrounded by the security and companionship of your own inner circle, the unity of God within you. Persist in the feeling that the I AM is with you, and the sense of isolation dissolves as life reflects your inner peace.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and feel the assurance of inner companionship. Imagine a circle of loving inner allies surrounding your sore, and rest in the conviction that the I AM abides with you now.
