Psalms 36:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 36 in context

Scripture Focus

7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Psalms 36:7-9

Biblical Context

Psalm 36:7-9 celebrates God's lovingkindness and the trust it invites; it promises abundant life, refreshment, and illumination to those who rest in that inner source.

Neville's Inner Vision

All three lines unveil a simple inner law: God is I AM, the awareness you inhabit. The lovingkindness described is the tender tone you hold toward your own being. When you imagine yourself under the shadow of wings, you are not seeking shelter from without; you are consenting to be consciously protected by the presence you are. Trust is the natural posture of that I AM toward every moment, a state of fullness that satisfies the whole being—the fatness of thy house. The river of pleasures is the continuous, refreshing stream you drink by letting your inner picture expand; you permit life to flow through your sense of self. The fountain of life is within you, a perennial source of energy and guidance; in thy light shall we see light means that as you illuminate your inner state, you begin to see externally what corresponds to it. The psalm invites you to revise your state until joy, safety, and abundance become your habitual atmosphere, realized not by change in the world but by a change in you.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state 'I AM' as shelter; feel the wings of awareness enfold you. Picture drinking from the river of pleasures and tasting the fountain of life within.
