Read Psalms 36 in context

Scripture Focus

5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Psalms 36:5-9

Biblical Context

Psalm 36:5-9 speaks of God's mercy and faithfulness, His protective care, and the abundance available to those who trust in Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the I AM within me, Psalm 36:5-9 is not a distant hymn but a description of the inner atmosphere I choose to inhabit. When I say, Thy mercy is in the heavens, I understand that mercy is the vibrational field of awareness itself, ever present, unbound by circumstance. Thy faithfulness reaching unto the clouds becomes my assurance that the consistency of consciousness is constant, not capricious. The imagery of righteousness as mountains and judgments as a deep is a map of inner order: I establish a steadfast center, and from that center life is preserved, not merely endured. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings: I train my attention to rest under a compassionate shelter, knowing I am cared for by the invisible arms of my own I AM. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures: I revise my sense of lack as the abundance of imagination, drinking freely from the continual stream of joy that imagination provides. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light: in the light of awareness I discover more light.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of being under the shadow of Thy wings; rest in a shelter of care and abundance. Then imagine drinking from the river of Thy pleasures and tasting the fountain of life, until the sense of light in you becomes bright.
