Biblical Context
The wicked murmur to themselves that there is no fear of God, while God's mercy and steadfast righteousness stand above. The faithful are invited to trust under the shadow of God’s wings and to drink from the river of divine pleasures.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the 'transgression' spoken in private is but a belief that you are apart from God. In Neville's language, your eye line—your state of consciousness—flattens the face of reality into self-justification. The psalm reveals that the moment you admit a hidden fear of God, you awaken to a greater presence: mercy in the heavens, faithfulness reaching the clouds, righteousness as mountains. The I AM within you is not an external judge but the very light by which you judge. When you imagine yourself as wholly under the wings of God, you enact a revision: the world you witness becomes the natural expression of that trust, the wicked fall away by your refusal to identify with their schemes. The river of thy pleasures becomes your felt sense of life—your thoughts, feelings, and decisions are fed from that current. Your light is God within you; in that light you see light. The more you dwell on divine life as your own, the more you displace fear and cunning with a simple, unwavering assurance: I and the Father are one; the I AM in me loves and preserves all.
Practice This Now
Practice: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am under the shadow of Thy wings.' Dwell there until fear dissolves and the river of divine pleasures nourishes your awareness.
