Beholding Inner Light

Psalms 34:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 34 in context

Scripture Focus

5They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
Psalms 34:5

Biblical Context

Psalm 34:5 states that looking to God brings inner light. The verse also implies that such light dispels shame from the face.

Neville's Inner Vision

Look to the I AM within and you recognize that light is a function of your state of consciousness, not a weather light from above. 'They looked unto him' points to the moment you shift allegiance from surface appearances to the inner governor of your being. When you assume the presence of God as your real Self, the mind settles, the body relaxes, and confusion yields to clarity. Lightened means a renewal of sight—an inner seeing that confirms your being as the image and likeness of the divine. The line about 'faces not ashamed' is the fearless expression of one who knows himself eternally loved and safe in the I AM. No external event can shake your essential radiance when you dwell in that consciousness. This is the practice Neville teaches: imagine and feel that you are already illuminated by God, and your outer life will reflect your inner vision.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already lightened by the I AM. Feel the relief as your inner light radiates through your face.
