9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Psalms 33:9

Biblical Context

Psalm 33:9 states that God spoke and creation came into being; His commands stood firm as a model for how inner decree shapes reality.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 33:9 reveals the inner law: God spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood fast. In my practice, I interpret this as a statement about consciousness: the 'I' that speaks is the creative I AM, and every outward form answers to the decree of that awareness. When I dwell on a desire as already present, I am merely resting in the inner command that has already brought it into being. The world does not precede the word I hold in mind; the word precedes and makes visible the world. Therefore, I take a moment to assume the end, to feel the assurance that what I desire stands fast by virtue of my inner decree. The efficacy of the spoken word is not in force from without, but in alignment within. By choosing a definite image and saying, 'it is done,' I am aligning my inner disposition with the universal order, and the outer circumstances conform to that order.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the end as already true; feel the joy of its fulfillment. Repeat a single, definite decree until it feels natural, and carry that feeling into the next moment.
