Read Psalms 31 in context

Scripture Focus

1In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
2Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
3For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
4Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
5Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
Psalms 31:1-5

Biblical Context

Psalm 31:1-5 expresses a believer's trust in the Lord and a plea for deliverance according to righteousness. It declares God as rock, fortress, guide, and the one into whose hands the spirit is committed.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 31:1-5 invites you to discover that the so-called external Lord is the activity of your own I AM, the awareness in which you live and move. To say, In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust, is to acknowledge that trust is a state of consciousness you choose and maintain, not a plea to an outside power. When you rest in righteousness, you stand on an unshakable rock—a stationary awareness that cannot be moved by appearances. The fortress is the field of attention where you know yourself as aligned with the truth; from this place you are led and guided by the inner law, for your name’s sake is the law’s fidelity to you. The net you seem pulled into dissolves the moment you refuse to identify with limitation and instead affirm your strength as the I AM. Finally, to commit your spirit into the I AM’s hand is to surrender your old drama and enter the redeemed state, knowing you are already protected, already delivered, and eternally true.

Practice This Now

Practice: For five minutes, close your eyes and rest in a rocklike center of awareness. Repeat softly, In thee I trust, and imagine the I AM surrounding you with a fortress of light that guides every step.
