Biblical Context
Psalm 30 celebrates how God lifts the soul, heals, and turns mourning into dancing, inviting praise for holiness and the morning breakthrough after trouble.
Neville's Inner Vision
Seen through the inner vision, this psalm is a manual for states of consciousness. The lifting spoken in verse 1 is the noticeable shift when I realize the I AM that I am; the foes rejoice only in the old story, but as I awaken to my divine nature, the inner wound heals and the soul is brought up from the pit. This is not about external events, but about recognizing that I have been kept alive by the inward favor of God—my life in the I AM—so that weeping endures for a night but joy comes with the morning. When I say, 'in my prosperity I shall never be moved,' I am reminded to rest in the inner security that comes from alignment with holiness. The mountain stands firm by inner favor, and the face I seek in prayer is the face of mercy turning toward me. I cry inwardly and am answered; mourning becomes dancing as sackcloth is shed and gladness clothes the heart. Thus my glory sings forth gratitude forever, and I make the remembrance of this holiness my daily practice.
Practice This Now
Assume the lifted state now. Silently affirm 'I am lifted by the I AM within me' and feel the gladness as dawn breaks, resting in that feeling for a few breaths.
