Inner Rest Psalm 3:5-6
Psalms 3:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The psalmist sleeps and wakes upheld by God, and chooses fearless trust despite surrounding threats.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the verse reveals a state of consciousness rather than a distant event. Read it with the eye of your I AM and you will see that lying down to sleep and waking refreshed is the proof of inner sustaining power. The psalmist says I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. The question is who lays down and wakes. It is your awareness, the consciousness that never abandons itself. When you declare I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, you are not denying outer danger; you are affirming the inner condition that fears are only thoughts and fear cannot dwell in a mind that knows its divine nature. Outer circumstances then align with your inner certainty: protection, rest, and confident steps. The many enemy thoughts are but mental clamor around a fixed state. Rest in the assurance that you are sustained by the I AM, and your body will follow the truth you entertain. You are the psalmist and the Psalm in one.
Practice This Now
Before sleep, assume I am sustained by the I AM; feel that inner support as reality and let it govern your sleep and your waking. When fear arises, revise to the felt presence of sustenance.
