Psalms 3:2-4

Biblical Context

Psalm 3:2-4 speaks of those who doubt God's help, then declares God as a shield and the lifter of the speaker's head, followed by a personal cry that is heard.

Neville's Inner Vision

I tell you, the quotation is not a supplication to a distant God, but a turning of your own consciousness to the I AM. The words 'There is no help for him in God' arise from a state of doubt, a mental picture of separation. When you affirm 'thou, O LORD, art a shield for me,' you are claiming an inner operative condition: the mind that feels protected, the self that wears the armor of awareness. 'My glory, and the lifter up of mine head' is the proud recognition that your sense of worth and your posture before life rise from alignment with the divine presence within. The line 'I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill' becomes your inner hearing—the moment your consciousness answers itself from its own highest vantage, and the hill is the stable, holy center of awareness you can access at any moment. Thus doubt is transformed into hope as you dwell in the realization that God is the I AM unfolding as your own life, guiding every issue by your inner decree.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes; declare, 'I am shielded by God; I am the lifter of my head.' Breathe, feel the posture of assurance, hear your inner cry answered from within.
