Biblical Context
David cries to the Lord, acknowledging God as his rock and defense, and asks not to be left unheard. The psalm closes with gratitude, declaring the Lord as strength, shield, savior, and provider for his people.
Neville's Inner Vision
I tell you, the 'LORD' is not a far-off being but the I AM within you—the awareness that never stays silent. When you cry, you are not begging an exterior deity; you are waking to the state you already are. The rock is your unshakable consciousness beneath the tides of fear and error; the shield is the protection of attention rightly fixed on the Present. The wicked and their feigned peace are restless thoughts that pretend to help while pulling you into separation; observe their claims and return to the inner oracle—the quiet, true nature you harbor. Because you neglect the works of the LORD, you permit inner trouble; but when you turn, trust, and call, you experience protection, healing, and uplift. The LORD is your strength; your heart trusts and is helped, and your song of praise rises as proof of the realized state. The anointed within you is the indwelling I AM, empowered to save and bless, sustaining you now and forever.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, I AM the rock and shield now. Hold the felt sense of being heard, and let gratitude rise as your inner state solidifies.
