Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David desires to dwell with the LORD, behold His beauty, and seek within His temple. In trouble the LORD hides him, sets him on a rock, and he offers joyful praises.
Neville's Inner Vision
Desire is not seeking outside but turning your attention to the inner temple where the I AM dwells. The Psalmist says one thing he desires, and that desire is the act of turning consciousness to dwell in the LORD’s house—your awareness—where beauty is seen and inquiries are made. When trouble arises, you don't flee; you withdraw into the pavilion of your own consciousness, the secret of the tabernacle where you are safely hid by the power of your assumption. The rock upon which you are set is the unshakable sense of I AM, the fixed point from which thoughts of danger lose their force. From that certainty your head rises above the surrounding "enemies" as you stand firm in awareness. Then joy becomes your offering, and your singing—your prayers of praise—are the natural expression of a mind abiding in the inner temple. This is not ritual; it's the realization that God is your awareness and that the temple is the state you inhabit.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already dwelling in the LORD's temple. Feel protected, lifted, and joyous, and carry that inner state into your day.
