Plain Path of Inner Guidance

Psalms 27:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 27 in context

Scripture Focus

11Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
Psalms 27:11-12

Biblical Context

The psalm asks for guidance and protection, pleading to be taught the way and led along a plain path. It also seeks deliverance from those who counterfeit truth and breathe cruelty.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this psalm the Lord is the I AM within you, the consciousness you are becoming aware of. 'Teach me thy way' is your decision to let Infinite Intelligence instruct your mind, and 'lead me in a plain path' is choosing a straight, uncluttered direction your imagination can inhabit. The enemies and false witnesses are not people with power over you, but thoughts and habits in your mind that disturb peace—doubt, fear, and judgment projecting a false reality. To 'deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies' means you refuse to surrender your inner state to those thoughts. You revise the scene by assuming you already stand under a protection that comes from fidelity to truth. Deliverance is a present act of alignment, not a future rescue: you shift into the state in which you are guided, safe, and untroubled by cruelty. Persist in the felt sense of being taught, led, and safeguarded, and the plain path within becomes your natural mode of life, a visible manifestation of your true I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the state of being led along a straight, plain path by your I AM. Repeat, 'Teach me thy way; I am led in a plain path,' and feel the certainty of protection as you walk forward.
