Dwelling in Divine Light

Psalms 27:1-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 27 in context

Scripture Focus

1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
Psalms 27:1-6

Biblical Context

David declares the LORD as light, salvation, and fortress; fear dissolves in the presence of God. He resolves to dwell in the LORD’s house, seeking beauty and truth, and to find shelter amid trouble.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the listening mind, 'The LORD is my light' is the awakening of consciousness to its I AM. The light is not a distant lamp but awareness itself, clear and undivided. 'Salvation' is the realization that safety resides in this inner God-state, the essential you that cannot fear. 'The strength of my life' means your very being is anchored in this inner God-state, unshaken by outer appearances. Enemies and armies that seem to threaten are only projections of thought, dissolvable by turning attention inward. When I fix my gaze on the 'one thing'—to dwell in the house of the LORD—I choose the steady center where the beauty of the Lord is visible and inquiry into truth is renewed. In trouble, the divine pavilion and the secret tabernacle are my psychological shelter; to be placed 'upon a rock' is to stand in immutable, tranquil awareness. With this posture, the head rises above fear, and songs of joy flow from a heart that rests in the I AM, proclaiming that the whole world is brought into alignment with a single, unwavering consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, and assume you are already dwelling in the LORD’s house; feel the shelter of divine presence around you. Then softly declare, 'I AM' is my light, my salvation, and my security.
