Biblical Context
Psalm 26:3-4 presents a discipline of keeping lovingkindness before the eyes and walking in truth, while refusing to sit with vain persons or dissemblers. It shows that true alignment comes from within, not from external company.
Neville's Inner Vision
Truth be told, the psalmist speaks from the interior state of consciousness. When lovingkindness stands before the I AM, the whole of life takes on a gentler, truer color. I claim I have walked in thy truth not as a mere rule, but as the steady feeling of rightness that lives in me. To sit with vain persons or to go in with dissemblers is to identify with a wavering crowd of appearances; the true self remains constant, choosing a quality of mind that refuses contradiction. In this light, I am not bound to outer associations but invited to align every thought, word, and image with the unshakeable reality of God as I AM. When I realize the outer scene mirrors the inner state, vanity loses its grip and integrity becomes a living habit. This is not restraint but freedom: by imagining and assuming the consciousness of purity, I become the living truth the verse describes. My inner companionship is the steadfast presence, and the world follows.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the man who walks in truth. Feel lovingkindness before your inner gaze and revise any vain thought by affirming I AM.
