In the I AM of your being, the words 'Examine me' become your own invitation to present reality. The reins and the heart are not organs of fear, but the hidden springs of motive and feeling that determine your life. When you say, 'For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes,' you are declaring that divine tenderness is the standard by which you measure yourself; you align your attention with the truth that you are already loved, and thus your actions flow from that certainty. 'I have walked in thy truth' becomes not a history lesson but a present dominant state you dwell in: you imagine yourself as the one who lives in truth now, in every choice and in every association. The lines about not sitting with vain persons or dissemblers are not about others alone; they are about your inner dialogue and company: you refuse to entertain thoughts that flatter the ego or justify deceit. The 'congregation of evil doers' is the chorus of negative habits you choose to dissociate from; you hate it, not in anger, but in recognition that such thoughts drain your divine energy. Your practice is to assume the feeling of being examined by God and found true, and to revise any sense of impurity until your inner world matches the truth you affirm.
