20O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

Biblical Context

The speaker faces many enemies who hate him; he asks God to guard his soul and deliver him, trusting in God so he will not be ashamed.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through Neville's lens, 'enemies' are the states of consciousness that oppose you. They are not out there but within, thoughts and memories that spark fear, doubt, or shame. 'Keep my soul' means sustaining the vibration of your true self—the I AM awareness that remains unchanged amid appearances. 'Deliver me' is the moment when you shift from the mental image of danger to the reality of safety by assuming the end already in your heart. 'Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee' becomes: I trust the only power I am aware of—the inner I AM—and so the world begins to answer from that trust. When you allow the I AM to dominate your feeling, the imagined enemies lose their grip, and your life moves in harmony with your inner state. Begin by assuming the feeling of protection now, regardless of conditions; your deliverance is your own changed consciousness, a new image of yourself shining through every scene. The practical effect is that fear recedes and confidence returns as you persist in the belief that you are already kept by the divine Presence within you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and revise the verse into present fact: 'I am kept by the I AM; my enemies are overcome by my trust in God within me.' Then breathe and feel the relief as if deliverance has already occurred.
