Biblical Context
David lifts his soul to the LORD, trusts in God, and asks for guidance in truth. He prays that those who wait on the LORD will not be ashamed.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville’s view, the Lord is not a distant deity but the I AM within you. Lifting the soul is a deliberate reorientation of attention from circumstance to inner certainty. To trust in God is to accept that your inner state creates your outer life, and the fear of shame dissolves when you acknowledge you are seen by the one who knows your true being. The command that none who wait on thee be ashamed becomes a law of consciousness: wait on inner guidance with unwavering awareness, and appearances lose power. Show me thy ways, teach me thy paths, lead me in thy truth are not external lessons but affirmations that your decisions and feelings flow from the truth of your being. Thou art the God of my salvation points to the self as wholeness and stability; to wait all the day is continuous attentiveness to the I AM. Neville would say: maintain that continuous awareness, and the world conforms to it, for imagination creates reality.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of the I AM now and feel it as your living center. Throughout the day, repeat inwardly: I am led by thy truth; I wait on thee all the day, and let the certainty replace doubt.
