Biblical Context
Psalm 23:5 presents God as a banquet prepared in the midst of adversaries, signaling inner abundance that survives outer threat. Oil for the head and a cup overflowing symbolize inner favor.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, the table set in the presence of enemies is a revelation of consciousness, not a position on earth. Thou preparest a table before me means you insist upon a banquet within, while outer appearances roar. The enemies you see are merely thoughts and conditions that would persuade you of lack; they cannot touch the I AM that you are. The anointing with oil is the energizing of your self with sacred vitality, a consecration of attention to that which never wavers. Your cup runneth over is the proof that your inward state overflows into every outward scene. When you accept this, you do not fight the foes; you shift the entire frame of reference by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Imagination creates reality, and awareness is God inside you. Begin from this moment: dwell in the feeling of fullness, see the table in your mind, taste the oil, and carry the overflow into your world. The world will respond to the new governor you have assumed: abundance present even where it seemed scarce.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, step into the inner dining room, and seat yourself at the table of abundance. Feel the oil on your head and declare, I am the I AM; let your cup overflow and let sensation of fullness fill every moment.
